Understand the idea
Cells are the basic structural and functional units of life. A cell membrane controls movement of substances. In typical plant and animal cells, the nucleus contains most of the genetic material. Plant cells also have a cell wall; chloroplasts in green plant tissues carry out photosynthesis.
See a worked example
A green leaf cell has chloroplasts that capture light energy. A cheek cell does not have chloroplasts.
A useful check
Not every cell has a nucleus or chloroplasts. These questions refer to typical school examples unless stated otherwise.
