Why self-testing beats re-reading
Re-reading a chapter creates familiarity; answering questions creates memory. In learning research this is the testing effect, and it is one of the most replicated findings in education: students who quiz themselves on a chapter retain substantially more a week later than students who read the same chapter the same number of times. A five-question quiz is small, but done daily it compounds into exactly the retrieval skill board exams measure.
How to take this quiz like a topper
- Answer before you look. Commit to an answer even when unsure — a confident wrong answer that gets corrected is remembered better than a lucky guess.
- Note the “why” for every miss. Not “I got it wrong” but “I confused refraction with reflection”. That sentence is your revision note.
- Retake tomorrow. The same questions feel different after a night's sleep; getting them right twice is when learning locks in.
- Escalate to your syllabus. This page holds a small mixed set. For chapter-wise and weak-topic quizzes calibrated to your class and board, send quiz or quiz weak on WhatsApp — the bot draws from your actual subjects and remembers what you keep missing.
Build a daily 10-minute quiz habit
Attach five questions to an existing routine — after dinner works well. The sequence is: yesterday's misses first, today's chapter second. On Sundays, run a longer mixed set covering the week. By exam month you will have a personal mistake file worth more than any guidebook, because every line in it is a mark you have already dropped once and refuse to drop again.
